If you're even considering this seat, it's because you've gone off the deep end and you're obsessed with every gram. I find myself thinking about the Monty Python song Every Sperm is Sacred and think that someone should rewrite it as "Every Gram is Sacred". So back to the weight -- this saddle is an honest 62 grams on our scale, and that's just amazing, because not only is it light, it's actually designed to be comfortable, too. The carbon fiber wraps continuously from the top, around the back, and right into the rails, transforming the saddle into a leaf spring of sorts.
I've had many people look at my all carbon saddle and say "How can you ride on that?" Well remember that it's the padding in your shorts that really provides most of the cushioning, and not the padding in your seat. The most important part of a saddle is how it fits your individual bone structure, and how well it flexes.
Like all AX-Lightness saddles, the Phoenix uses round carbon rails so it's compatible with most seatposts. And it really will draw attention to your bike -- your friends, at least those "in the know", will be jealous. And if they want to outdo you, they'll have to get the AX1000 saddle, which is the "Premium Phoenix" (same shape, only lighter still. (see associated products in the right column)
